Corrections policy

We get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we fix it in the open rather than quietly.

How corrections work

• Factual errors are corrected in the article itself.
• The correction is noted at the foot of the story with the date.
• The article's modified date is updated, so the change is visible to readers and to search engines.
• Stories that turn out to be wrong at their core are withdrawn and replaced with a note explaining why.
